PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 2010

Hunter Education Program
Concord Sportsmen's Club, its members and United Sportsmens Inc., in cooperation with the Department of
Fish and Game, conduct Hunter Education classes for approximately 215 students, teaching fish and game
rules, survival and firearms safety.  This constitutes over 200 man-hours donated by club members to
conduct these classes.

Impalement Arts Event and Membership Drive.
Combined with a membership drive to continue the Concord Sportsmen's Club ability to be active in the local
community; the Impalement Arts event educates people of all ages in the sport of knife and tomahawk
throwing, including the history, fundamentals and proper safety techniques.  These events adhere to the
International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame regulations.

Hospice Foundation of the East Bay - Monetary support provided  by Concord Sportsmen's Club
Hospice Foundation of the east Bay provides medical, emotional and practical support to patients with
life-limiting illnesses and their families.  They offer care at home or in skilled nursing facilities to medically
qualified patients of all ages.  Specialized programs include pediatric palliative, hospice care, recurrent
breast cancer care and a center for grief and loss.

California Waterfowl - Monetary support provided  by Concord Sportsmen's Club
California Waterfowl is a group that works with other groups such as the North Delta Conservancy, to place
and maintain wood nesting boxes in the delta area to help resurrect the wood duck population, rescue
misplaced duck eggs and other birds.  They incubate the eggs and raise the birds until they are old enough
to be released into their original habitat.  As a result of the program, in 2009 they hatched 1,729 baby wood

ducks, 350 mallards, gadwalls, teal along with blue birds, kestrel falcons and barn owls.

Food bank of Contra Costa and Solano - Monetary support provided  by Concord Sportsmen's Club
The Food Bank of Contra Costa provides food to men, women and children that don't have enough to eat.

Bay Area Crisis Nursery - Monetary support provided by Concord Sportsmen's Club
The Bay area Crisis Nursery provides comfort, care and loving support for those who go to them.  They
provide a safe home like environment for children while families in crisis work through their problems, look for
a job or break an addiction.
